Your 12th District Convention Chair is responsible for
planning and coordinating all events associated with
the California State PTA Convention,
from preparation to attendance.

Things to remember about attending state convention:
(taken from CAPTA Toolkit, July 2011, and in accordance with CAPTA bylaws)
> California State PTA strongly encourages its units and councils to budget for and send as many delegates as entitled to each annual convention.
> Convention is a legitimate, authorized PTA expense.
> Convention expenses should be a line item in the annual budgets of all unit and council PTAs.
> Planning for convention and providing an opportunity for delegates to attend is a membership priority.
> Each association in good standing is entitled to be represented at the California State PTA convention by the president-elect or president and one additional delegate.
> The purposes of convention are to:

Conduct the annual business of the California State PTA

Train, inform, and inspire PTA leadership

Provide delegates the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other delegates from throughout the state.

A word about Convention Scholarships...
It has been a point of pride in 12th District PTA to offer convention scholarships to our units and councils for the past several years. We are happy to be able to continue this tradition for Convention 2012. Information and links are provided on the home page and on the Scholarships & Grants page. Apply, apply, apply! Deadline for applications is 2/7/12.
